BSidesLuxembourg Code of Conduct

BSidesLuxembourg is a conference by the information security community, for the information security community. Facilitating a pleasant atmosphere for all attendees is a core aim of the organizers and as an attendee you agree to be bound by our Code of Conduct.

PURPOSE OF THIS CODE OF CONDUCT

  • To ensure a constructive, inclusive, and pleasant atmosphere for all volunteers and attendees of the conference.
  • To provide a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form.
  • To ensure that all attendees know what behavior they have a right to expect from other attendees, volunteers, and organizers.
  • To ensure that all attendees know what behavior is expected of them whilst attending BSidesLuxembourg.

RESPECT FOR OTHERS

ATTENDEES WILL:

  • Treat the organizers and volunteers with respect and follow any instructions given. The BSidesLuxembourg volunteers and organizers have given up a significant amount of time to facilitate this conference for the benefit of the attendees.
  • Respect the presenters, do not talk among yourselves during their presentations, ensure your mobile phones are muted or switched off and once you’re inside a presentation, avoid leaving until the end to minimize disruption to the other attendees and the presenter. Heckling and constant harassment of presenters will not be tolerated. Attendees who show discourtesy to presenters by talking or otherwise disrupting matters will be asked to leave.
  • Asking questions is what makes this a community but respect the presenter’s method of handling questions during their presentation and allow other attendees the opportunity to participate as well.
  • Treat all present at the conference fairly and equally.
  • Respect the venue and its staff.
  • Allow others to express themselves and understand that all views are important even if they are not the same as your own.

BSidesLuxembourg organizers reserve the right to determine what constitutes reasonable behavior and the right to restrict admission to the conference and/or ask an attendee to leave.

  • Always act respectfully towards others.
  • Understand that all forms of discrimination, including bullying and harassment are unacceptable.

PHOTOGRAPHY

BSidesLuxembourg’s official photographers will be present during the event and will do their best in order to respect all requests by individuals not to be photographed. BSidesLuxembourg reserves the right to publish pictures of the current and past event on the following platforms: On our social media feeds (Mastodon, BlueSky). On our Website (BsidesLuxembourg.lu). In promotional materials about the event (event presentation slides, sponsorship packages). It is not possible to always correctly identify specific individuals in a large crowd when on-site. However, anyone appearing in a photograph published by BSidesLuxembourg, who does not wish to be, can make a request to be made unidentifiable by writing to info@bsidesluxembourg.lu. Any attendee, organizer, volunteer, sponsor, or speaker who takes photos during the event is expected to abide by this policy if contacted by attendee.

REPORTING

If you have any issues with the behavior of anyone at the conference, please report it to one of the organizers who will deal with the matter promptly.

ADDRESSING GRIEVANCES

If you feel you have been falsely or unfairly accused of violating this Code of Conduct, you should notify one of the event organizers with a concise description of your grievance. Your grievance will be reviewed by an independent third party.
